As a founding member of ASG Risk Management, Inc., Peter Parent is a nationally recognized leader in the design and administration of comprehensive stop-loss medical insurance programs. Peter’s background as a risk management underwriter contributes to his ability to oversee all risk management and business operations at ASG while keeping pace with the ever-changing health insurance marketplace on both regional and national levels. Peter began his insurance career in 1993 with a large brokerage firm in Boston, Mass. From there, he entered the stop-loss industry as an underwriter for a national MGU and has since held senior level marketing and underwriting positions for some of the largest stop-loss providers in the nation. Peter earned a BA from Salem State University and lives in Cumberland, ME, with his wife and two children.
As a key member of ASG Risk Management’s leadership team, Mike Holland is responsible for building relationships with clients and business partners. Previously the key sales representative with Medical Excess Underwriters (also a Companion Life Insurance company), Mike’s goal is to keep pace with the mechanics of the self-funded employee benefit industry in order to help clients navigate its many complexities. Mike earned a BS in Business Administration from Western New England College and is based in our Westfield, Mass., office. He and his wife spend their free time keeping up with their two active children.
Tracy Borden welcomes the opportunity to apply her degree in Business Administration and her background as a business owner to her role as Assistant Claims Analyst in our Portland office. A 1994 graduate of the University of Southern Maine, she previously worked in the property management and mortgage underwriting industries before joining ASG in 2017. Along with her husband and their two sons, she enjoys outdoor activities near and around their home in Cumberland, Maine.
As a well-regarded member of the ASG team, Denise Brennan applies her more than 22 years of experience to managing all financial and reporting functions of the company. Her extensive knowledge and experience in controller, comptroller and operations roles tie directly into the financial, budgetary and forecasting aspects of insurance accounting. Denise earned a degree in Accounting from Salem State College and is active with extended family and local organizations.
Bringing a 20-year background in self-funded employee benefits plans, Chris Joy takes great pride in helping employers craft competitive and affordable employee benefits solutions. Chris approaches his role as ASG’s Underwriting Account Manager from the perspective of both Broker and TPA, having previously worked on “the other side of the desk.” He believes in encouraging team collaboration and fostering a positive, family-oriented work environment—all valuable qualities for building partnerships and structuring stop-loss solutions that meet our clients’ diverse needs. Chris lives in Gorham, ME with his wife and two children.
As a valued member of the underwriting team, Andrea Melone is responsible for claims and administrative duties required to support client, broker and TPA relationships. She graduated from Western New England University with a BA in Creative Writing in 2013 and is a resident of Portland, Maine.
Maggie Moynihan began her insurance career with ASG in June of 2006. Her responsibilities as an underwriter include evaluating employer stop-loss quotes as well as building and maintaining relationships with brokers and TPAs. In this role, she works closely with the claims and marketing departments and has gained in-depth knowledge of our stop-loss products. Maggie earned a degree in History from the University of Southern Maine and resides in Portland.
Yvonne Parent recently joined our team in the newly created position of Medical Management Coordinator. In this role, she works closely with clients and ASG’s dedicated Director of Medical Management to coordinate claims data, facilitate an efficient and prompt claim management process, and ultimately, help employers control their healthcare costs. As a former business owner and long-time health and wellness provider, Yvonne offers a unique perspective that helps our TPA and Broker clients better understand the healthcare and insurance needs of employer groups across the U.S. Yvonne is a graduate of the Spa Tech Institute in Westbrook, ME, and she earned an AS from University of New England (formerly Westbrook College) in Portland, ME. She lives in Cumberland, ME with her husband and two children.
Sue Peebles joined ASG Risk Management after a nearly three-decade career in the group health insurance industry. For ASG, Sue manages all underwriting, underwriter and support staff development, and RFP and renewal activity. She is an active licensed registered nurse (RN) and enjoys spending time with her family in Massachusetts.
April St. Cyr brings 16 years of experience in the MGU/health insurance business and four years in employee benefits to her role as ASG Risk Management’s Claims Manager. Previously our Claims Analyst, April finds the ever-changing insurance industry interesting and full of learning potential. She attended Husson College and graduated with a BS in Business Administration.
Bringing more than 20 years of experience in the MGU industry to the role of Marketing Representative, Mike Tushman’s focus is on developing strong relationships and providing a competitive product to employers, brokers and TPAs throughout the country. Mike previously worked as a marketing underwriter for a major stop-loss carrier as well as an account manager with a national TPA. Mike is based out of our Milwaukee, WI office and is a graduate of Michigan State University.
Sara Winand joined our team as Director of Medical Management in August, 2015. Based out of our Indianapolis, IN office, she focuses on financial risk management issues by providing medical underwriting support and prospective claim management services for ASG clients nationwide. In order to help control employer costs, Sara assesses every case individually and makes a point to stay on top of new trends, procedures and treatments—including costs—specific to all health conditions. Sara attended Wright State University and is a graduate of Community Hospital School of Nursing. She brings 35 years of healthcare experience to our team, with 16 of those specific to the stop-loss insurance field.
Nathan Savage passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 2, 2016. Nathan had been a member of the ASG family since 2008, building and maintaining valuable relationships with brokers and TPAs as a stop-loss underwriter.
Faye Nelder died of an undetectable medical condition on Wednesday, December 14, 2016. As receptionist and office manager since 2007, her friendly, upbeat attitude was the first impression callers had with our team. She was truly the “voice of ASG.”
The ASG family tragically lost two dear friends and co-workers in 2016.
